My 1st YouTubers Meetup

Making videos has been a hobby of mine since I was 13 years old.

In 1999, I received a bright yellow video camera for Christmas. I used it to film family videos, school art projects, and videos for Girl Guide badges.

Fast forward to 2005 and I start watching videos on YouTube and occasionally uploading them on my old YouTube channel.

However, it wasn’t until 2012 that I started to upload videos regularly. I was training for a 10K run and wanted to document my experience. Then in 2014 I began backpacking around South America and wanted to capture that experience as well. Then in 2016 I was living in Austria and wanted to record all the things I was doing there too. At present I’m living in China and want to document my daily life here.

Throughout this time I never had the chance to meet other YouTubers. Of course, I had friends who occasionally uploaded videos to YouTube but none who identified as YouTubers.

So imagine how excited I was to finally meet some YouTubers!

Two weeks ago, on Sunday 3rd November, I met 8 Youtubers who live in China. Some of the YouTubers are huge, e.g. Miriam in China, who has over 20,000 subscribers!

In the vlog below I show you my journey to the event, tell you what we discussed, and share with you my key learnings.
