Perhaps you want to travel the world.
Perhaps you want to gain teaching experience.
Whatever the reason teaching in China is an attractive opportunity.
In 2016, I wanted to travel the world but had no money so I sought out paid opportunities. I found a teaching program organised by the British Council and had a fantastic year in the south of China.
A year later my TEFL teacher told me about a teaching job in Beijing so I moved to the big city and I’ve been there for 2.5 years now.
I’ve been lucky to have had only good teaching jobs in China but I know many others who have been less lucky. The main problems people encounter include: not being paid, being underpaid, being given the wrong visa, and being lied to about the conditions of the job.
In the video below I give tips on how to find good teaching jobs and how to avoid bad ones.
