How I Double Dutch Braid My Hair

At 16 years old I learnt to braid my hair by myself after spending my entire childhood bitterly disappointed in my parents inability to braid my hair for me. The only adult in my life with any hairstyling skills was my maternal grandma who occasionally gave me some nice rag curls. Thanks Gaggy*!

First I learnt how to French braid my hair. Then in 2006 I learnt how to Dutch braid. Nowadays I Dutch braid my hair so often I don’t think I could do a French braid without a lot of arm ache and mistakes.

In the video below I show you how I double Dutch braid my hair in under 10 minutes.

* I called my maternal grandma Gaggy. Apparently when I was a baby I couldn’t say the normal words for grandma like granny, gran, or grandma.
